The time and money spent on system repairs can be mitigated when we choose not to leave our system’s health up to chance. Regularly scheduled maintenance will extend the life and efficiency of our systems, while minimizing unexpected repairs. Additionally, customers who have the chance to express their concerns during regularly scheduled maintenance tend to see more immediate results in their comfort levels. However, if regular maintenance is ignored or postponed, simple problems become critical, that’s why we always recommend having each component of a system undergo maintenance once a year to ensure:

Efficiency and reliability aside, not having your heater checked annually can be legitimately dangerous, as it increases the likelihood of not detecting cracks in the heat exchanger, which would result in the release of carbon monoxide into your home. Another safety concern is checking for any short circuits which can lead to an electrical fire. Due to these potential hazards, scheduling your heater maintenance in the fall before consistent winter use begins is highly recommended, as well as A/C maintenance in the spring before the unforgiving summers begin.

Ed Blancher Service offers two types of air conditioning and heating maintenance. Peak Performance Maintenance Agreement and the Quick Check and Clean maintenance.

Peak Performance

The Peak Performance Maintenance agreement is designed to help our customers attain optimal performance from their comfort investments. Peak Performance is a prepaid contract due at the beginning of each year. Joining this prepaid maintenance agreement entitles members to two Precision Tune-Ups annually: one in the spring for the A/C season and one in the fall for the heating season. If any additional repairs are necessary to bring the system to 100% effectiveness, customers will be advised at that time. Peak Performance members also receive a 5% discount on any repairs that they may have to pay for during the year as well as the benefit of not being charged overtime rates for weekend or holiday service calls, if needed. With this program, customers no longer need to worry about scheduling maintenance appointments; we will proactively reach out to you at the appropriate times each year. During this inspection, our technicians reference a comprehensive checklist of components to test and relevant information to collect in order to verify the following:

1. Optimal compressor functionality

2. Proper and fully operational ventilation

3. Proper refrigerant filtration

4. Optimal refrigerant levels/pressure

5. Efficient system temperature exchanges relative to outdoor temperatures

6. Optimal condenser coil operation and cleanliness

7. Cleanliness of all fans/blowers responsible for circulating indoor air

8. Status of ductwork and insulation

9. Status of refrigeration line insulation

10. Proper thermostat condition and operation

11. Passes necessary electrical safety tests

12. Cleanliness of return air grills

13. Replacement of return air filters

14. Cleanliness/replacement of any filters or systems responsible for indoor air quality

15. Operational system safety devices

16. Operational water leak prevention equipment

17. Level/degree of water leak prevention equipment meets customer standards

Quick Check & Clean

Quick Check and Clean Maintenance appointments are a one-time check of your system to make sure that it is both functional and clean. Our technicians remove surface dirt from condenser coils, clear drainage, and monitor refrigerant levels to make sure everything is working properly in the summer, as well as check for any hazards posed by a faulty heater as winter approaches. Unlike a Peak Performance Membership, Quick Check and Clean appointments are not a prepaid program and payment is due at the time of service.
